Ayam Suwir

Ayam Sisit or Ayam Suwir is a Balinese Cuisine Made from Spicy Chunks of Chicken Meat, Served on Black Plate.

Ayam suwir is a traditional Balinese dish. We usually can find this dish in nasi campur Bali for breakfast and in Nasi jinggo for dinner.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams chicken fillet
  • 5 shallots
  • 7 cloves garlic
  • 8 big red chilies
  • 3 chilies
  • 2 lemongrass
  • 1 teaspoon shrimp paste
  • 1 piece of lime
  • 2 pieces of kaffir lime leaves
  • 4 bay leaves
  • a tomato
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 2 teaspoons of bouillon powder
  • a teaspoon of sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of sweet soy sauce
  • 35 ml coconut milk

How to Cook

Boil the chicken and add one bay leaf and one lemongrass. Boil the chicken for 20 minutes.

Place shallots, garlic, chillies. big red chillies, shrimp paste and tomato  in a food processor and process into a paste.

Shred the boiled chicken.

Heat coconut milk in a pan, add spices paste, lemongrass,kaffir lime leaves, bay leaves, and stir.

Stir for 5 minutes then add salt, sugar, and bouillon powder.

Add shredded chicken to the pan.

Add sweet soy sauce and lime juice, stir for 10 minutes.

Ayam suwir is ready to serve.

This recipes is best to serve with warm rice and sambal matah.
