On this day, Dalangs throughout Bali perform special prayers and make offerings over their puppet collections, which are wrapped in sacred cloth and treated as living objects. Special wayang performances may also be held at major temples, and families with a Dalang among their ancestors may hold household ceremonies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For visitors with an interest in Balinese art, spirituality, or traditional performance, Tumpek Wayang offers a rare window into the profound reverence the Balinese hold for their performing arts. The wayang tradition in Bali was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2011, and Tumpek Wayang is the day when that heritage is most visibly celebrated and reaffirmed across the island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tumpek Wayang 2026 falls on October 10.
