Maybank Bali Marathon 2026
Maybank Bali Marathon 2026
The Maybank Bali Marathon is Indonesia’s premier road race and the country’s only World Athletics Elite Label marathon, held each August at the Bali United Training Center in Gianyar. The 2026 edition — the 15th running of this beloved event — takes place on August 23, drawing thousands of local and international runners to the start line before the sun rises over Bali’s rice fields.
Five race categories cater to every ability level: the full marathon (42.195 km), half marathon (21.1 km), 10K, a wheelchair division, and a children’s sprint. The course winds through traditional Balinese villages, terraced rice paddies, and rural countryside roads in Gianyar Regency — a running experience that few races anywhere in the world can match for scenery and cultural atmosphere.
The 4:30 AM start is intentional. Runners catch the sunrise over the fields while temperatures are still manageable, and the cooler early hours give everyone a fighting chance before the Bali humidity sets in. Volunteers and marshals, many dressed in traditional Balinese attire or stationed alongside gamelan musicians, line the course and make the race feel like a cultural event as much as an athletic one.
As a World Athletics Elite Label race, the Maybank Bali Marathon qualifies as a Boston Marathon qualifying race, attracting competitive runners from across Asia and the globe alongside thousands of first-timers and charity participants. It is a race with real depth — fast, well-organized, and set inside a landscape that makes even the hard kilometers feel worth it.
If you’re planning to race, arrive two to three days early to acclimatize to the humidity. Stay near Gianyar to keep race-morning travel simple. Race pack collection is on August 21–22 at the Bali United Training Center.
