Cipta Rwa Loka at Taksu Art Stage, Nusa Dua
Cipta Rwa Loka is a glow-in-the-dark Balinese performance staged every Saturday evening at Taksu Art Stage on Peninsula Island, in the heart of The Nusa Dua resort enclave. It runs from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and the current season continues through 25 January 2027. Tickets are IDR 250,000.
The show is the work of Naluri Manca, a Balinese arts collective founded in 2020 that became best-known nationally as a standout act on Indonesia’s Got Talent in 2022 and set a MURI national record in 2024 for a colossal multi-genre performance. Their signature is the collision of traditional Balinese form with ultraviolet light: dancers in intricately painted costumes and headdresses that fluoresce under blacklight, moving across a stage floor painted in the same luminous patterns, so that the whole scene appears to float in the dark.
The title translates roughly as ‘the creation of two worlds’, and the piece is built around the Balinese idea of rwa bhineda — the balance of opposing but complementary forces, light and dark, order and chaos. Across the hour it moves through traditional dance, a Kecak chant sequence, fire dance, carnival-style ensemble pieces and contemporary choreography, set to live gamelan and a modern score. It is designed for an audience who may never have seen Balinese dance before, without watering the tradition down.
Taksu Art Stage is an open-air amphitheatre on Peninsula Island, the landscaped headland at the southern end of The Nusa Dua, a short walk from the Bali Collection shopping centre and the beach. Seating is tiered stone steps facing the stage with the sea behind. The show was launched by ITDC, the state company that manages The Nusa Dua, as part of a push to give the resort area a genuine cultural anchor rather than only hotel entertainment.
Practical notes: arrive by 6:30 PM to park and find a seat — the stage is a five-minute walk from the Peninsula Island car park.
