The DenFest Denpasar Festival is Bali’s capital city’s signature annual celebration of arts, culture, and urban creativity, held every December to mark the anniversary of Denpasar city. Running for four days in late December, this festival transforms Denpasar’s public spaces, parks, and cultural venues into stages for Balinese performing arts, contemporary music, visual arts exhibitions, culinary showcases, and heritage activities.
DenFest features an impressive programme including traditional Balinese dance and gamelan competitions, wayang kulit (shadow puppet) performances, modern art installations, street food festivals celebrating Balinese and Indonesian cuisine, fashion shows, and youth cultural events. The festival aims to preserve and promote Denpasar’s rich cultural identity while embracing creative contemporary expression.
Free and open to the public, DenFest is a fantastic opportunity to experience authentic Balinese urban culture beyond the tourist trail. Denpasar’s markets, temples, and cultural quarters come alive for this vibrant city-wide celebration.
The 2026 DenFest dates have not yet been officially announced. Based on previous years, the festival typically runs for four days in late December — the 2024 edition ran December 22–25 and the 2025 edition ran December 20–23. Check back for confirmed 2026 dates.
