Kasanga Festival
The Kasanga Festival (Kasangafest) is an annual cultural event held in Denpasar during the Kasanga month of the Balinese Saka calendar, in the days leading up to Nyepi — Bali’s Day of Silence. Organised by Pasikian Yowana Kota (Denpasar City Youth Association), the festival celebrates Balinese heritage through traditional arts, community competitions, and the iconic Ogoh-ogoh parade on Pengerupukan, the eve of Nyepi.
The festival features:
- Ogoh-ogoh parade through the streets of central Denpasar on Pengerupukan night
- Barong performance competitions
- Ogoh-ogoh mask crafting workshops
- Makendang drumming contests
- Local UMKM market showcasing Balinese products
Venue: Kawasan Catur Muka / Lapangan Puputan Badung, Denpasar
The 2027 Kasanga Festival dates have not yet been officially announced. Based on previous years, the festival runs for three days culminating on Pengerupukan (the eve of Nyepi). Nyepi 2027 falls on 8 March 2027, so the festival is expected around 5–7 March 2027. Check back for confirmed dates and the official theme announcement.
